(BIVN) – There were 330 newly reported cases of COVID-19 in the State of Hawaiʻi on Wednesday, up from the 280 cases identified on Tuesday. There were 38 new cases identified today on Hawaiʻi island, one case less than the 39 cases reported the day before.
The Hawaiʻi health department reported twelve (12) deaths with COVID-19 today.
“We are currently treating 8 COVID positive inpatients at KCH; 3 in our ICU and 4 in the hospital’s COVID unit,” wrote Kona Community Hospital in an update. “Inpatient numbers continue to trend down, which is encouraging. However, the COVID delta variant tends to be more severe in unvaccinated individuals. Patients admitted to KCH during the current surge have been mostly unvaccinated, and tend to be younger (30’s – 50’s). We are strongly encouraging community members to get the VOCID vaccine if you have not already done so.”
