(BIVN) – Retired Third Circuit Chief Judge Ronald Ibarra took to the podium to deliver a humorous, 20-minute speech during the blessing and art dedication at the Keahuolū Courthouse in Kona on Tuesday.
Ibarra had the crowd laughing over his tales of the old Kona courthouse, which served to illustrate the dire need for new judiciary facilities in West Hawaiʻi.
After his speech, Ibarra got a surprise. The Hawaiʻi Judiciary reports:
[Chief Justice Mark E.] Recktenwald made a surprise presentation to recently retired Chief Judge Ronald Ibarra, naming the Self-Help Center in his honor. Judge Ibarra was a tireless advocate for those who needed help with civil matters, but could not afford an attorney.
