(BIVN) – A wind advisory for an area of Kohala remains in effect until 9 a.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service says.
East 20 to 35 mph, “with localized gusts over 50 mph through gaps and to the lee of the Kohala mountains” will be possible, forecasters say.
“Winds this strong are capable of downing trees and causing power outages,” the National Weather Service wrote. “Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, are urged to drive with extreme caution.”
The advisory may need to be extended into Monday, forecasters say, but for now it is out through 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
