(BIVN) – The 90th Hawaiʻi Police recruit class was recognized on July 31 at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, surrounded by friends and family.
Chief Paul Ferreira administered a badge pinning ceremony, a reaffirmation of oath, and a presentation of certificates and awards to the six recruits, who are now closer to serving their community as police officers.
The keynote speaker for the event was Joseph Farias III, a retired Hawaiʻi Fire Department battalion chief and community college instructor.
Other guest speakers included Mayor Harry Kim and Police Commissioner Wayne DeLuz.
The graduating recruits are: Class President Lelauloto Tagaloa, Rodney Jerry DeLima-Forsythe, Lam Xuan Doan, Jonathan Michael Kaleo Matsutani, Richard J. Matsumoto, and Elijah Kauahaʻaheo Won.
