(BIVN) – A Magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Southern California on Friday evening, one day after a Magnitude 6.4 hit the same location.
According to a preliminary report from the USGS, the earthquake occurred 10.6 miles north northeast of Ridgecrest, California.
The earthquake did not trigger a tsunami warning, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. “Based on all available data a destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii,” the message stated.
