(BIVN) – The County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, held a public information meeting Wednesday evening at the Aupuni Center Conference Room in Hilo. Officials discussed the changes that can be expected for residential users of the South Hilo Sanitary Landfill, which is slated to close to commercial use some time in September 2019.
Solid Waste Division chief Greg Goodale explained to the 15-or-so people in attendance what the future holds for the site of the landfill.
Big Island Video News will have more video from this meeting, including a questions and answer session with the public on how the landfill closure will have little impact on residential waste disposal.
