(BIVN) – A resident of the Puna village of Kapoho, which was covered by lava during the 2018 eruption of Kīlauea Volcano, was the only testifier to speak during a meeting of the Hawaiʻi County Council Finance Committee on Tuesday in Kona.
Vacationland Hawaii Community Association board member, Eric Cockcroft, asked the local officials for a timeline on the recovery as it pertains to Kapoho, such as reestablishing roads or water service.
Cockcroft also spoke as an individual, and shared an emotional account as one of the last remaining residents of Kapoho.
