(BIVN) – After hiring of additional lifeguards, the County of Hawaiʻi says it the Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center is now open 7 days a week.
The Department of Parks and Recreation announced on Wednesday that the hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In February 2019, the Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center reopened to the public following extensive repairs. The pool was closed in May 2018 due to the eruption of Kīlauea Volcano on the lower East Rift Zone. Work included the removal of “Pele’s hair”, the fine threads of volcanic glass that form during lava fountains, and the repair of cracks in the main pool’s basin and deck area.
Please call the Aquatic Center at (808) 965-2700 for daily updates, recreational swim times, and to learn more about available programs, county officials say.
