(BIVN) – A High Surf Advisory continues for east facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island and a Wind Advisory has been issued for Kohala, the National Weather Service says.
The Wind Advisory, in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday, forecasts northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph. “Winds this strong will cause doors to slam and will cause driving issues for high profile vehicles,” the National Weather Service wrote on Wednesday.
The strong northeast winds will keep surf at advisory levels along east facing shores from the Big Island to Kauai through early Friday morning, forecasters say. Surf is expected to be 8 to 12 feet along east facing shores through 6 p.m. Friday.
Heed all advice from ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
