(BIVN) – National Park ranger Dean Gallagher recently joined a handful of other Volcano-area residents on the stage of the Volcano Art Center to recount one of his personal stories about the recent eruption of Kīlauea Volcano.
The Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park ranger talked about a trek to the dramatically altered Halemaʻumaʻu crater, where he was approached by a white-tailed tropicbird, or koaʻe kea, known to make its nest on the volcanic cliffs.
Big Island Video News was invited to record all the stories shared that evening, and we will be posting them one by one over the coming weeks.
