(BIVN) – The sidwewalks along Pāhoa Villager Road were crowded with onlookers for the annual holiday parade, organized by the Mainstreet Pāhoa Association.
Participants marched from Apaʻa Street to the Pāhoa High School, where a hoʻolauleʻa was held following the parade.
Musician and lava tour operator-turned hometown hero Ikaika Marzo was the parade Grand Marshal.
Those who helped the community by donating their time at Puʻuhonua O Puna, aka The Hub, during the recent eruption of Kīlauea also participated.
Hawaiʻi County Mayor Harry Kim also marched in the parade.
The theme of this year’s parade was “Celebrating Pāhoa”. It also happened to be the 25th anniversary of the event, known throughout Hawaiʻi as the most eclectic holiday parade of them all.
