(BIVN) – Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park’s iconic Volcano House hotel and restaurants are now open.
The National Park Service shared this update on Friday:
After months of anticipation, Volcano House has celebrated its historic reopening with a traditional Hawaiian blessing by Kumu Hula Moses Kaho‘ohele Crabbe of Hālau Ke Ola o Ka Lani. The Friday afternoon blessing brought together members of the park, the hotel, and management company Aqua-Aston Hospitality, out of respect for the land and the significance of the recent volcanic and seismic events.
The iconic Volcano House reopened to hotel guests on Oct. 6, the National Park Service says, and is again accepting reservations. The hotel also manages the park’s Nāmakanipaio Campground. Hotel management expects to fully reopen the popular campground and A-frame cabins the first week of December, officials say.
