(BIVN) – The Hawaiʻi Police Department graduated it’s 88th recruit class on Friday during a ceremony held at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
The class of six – Leslie James Bourne, Justin Uresti, Ray Ryan Rabena, Sergie Marzan, Derek Toloumu, and Travis Wong – were presented certificates and took part in a badge pinning and a reaffirmation of their oath, administered by Police Chief Paul Ferreira.
Hawaiʻi County Mayor Harry Kim was on hand for the event, and speakers included Chief Ferreira, Police Commissioner Peter Hendricks, Dr. Christian Kimo Alameda, and recruit class president Leslie James Bourne.
The recruit class motto was “stay humble, make a difference”.
