(BIVN) – A family was rescued from fast-rising waters at a Kea‘au Ag lots home on Friday night, the same night torrential rains from passing Hurricane Lane triggered flash flooding across East Hawai‘i.
As her family worked hard to clean up the flood-ravaged property on Ipuaiwaha Street, Ichelle Fukuhara took time to talk about the traumatic experience, and tell the story of their harrowing nighttime rescue.
Parts of Hawai‘i Island saw up to 50 inches of rain during the weather event.
