(BIVN) – Planning efforts for temporary and permanent housing solutions were a focus of Tuesday night’s public meeting in Pahoa on the Kilauea eruption.
Hawaii County officials followed a similar agenda as in past meetings, sharing information on the government response to the lower East Rift Zone eruption, taking some questions from the crowd, and even conducting a poll with audience input.
Hawaii County Managing Director Wil Okabe made some short remarks about Monday’s lava boat incident in which a littoral explosion injured 23 passengers.
The meeting also featured a talk from USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory deputy scientist-in-charge, Steve Brantley.
