(BIVN) – Government officials updated the Puna community on the ongoing lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kilauea on Tuesday night, during the weekly informational meeting in Pahoa.
In addition to the public question and answer session (video above), residents were given an update on the latest eruption activity from USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory deputy scientist-in-charge Steve Brantley.
When the meeting first began, Kahu Pi’ilani Ka’awalao led those gathered in an opening pule. Mayor Harry Kim also addressed the crowd.
The mayor’s executive assistant Roy Takemoto also gave the live, electronic poll another try. This time there were no technical difficulties, allowing the county to collect helpful data about the situation and the needs of the affected Puna community.
