(BIVN) – County, state and federal lawmakers took part in a public forum on Saturday to discuss the future of the Puna district in light of the ongoing eruption of Kilauea Volcano.
Puna’s Hawaii County Councilwoman Eileen O’Hara, State Representative Joy San Buenaventura, State Senator Russell Ruderman, and U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard sat on the panel and took written questions from the many in attendance at the Pahoa High School cafeteria. Topics ranged from future development in lava zones 1 and 2, to establishing a lava viewing area, to access in and around Puna’s impacted areas.
