STORY SUMMARY

HONOLULU - A bill would allow the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority to demonstrate the generation, storage, and distribution of renewable energy.

(BIVN) – The Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority could get funds this year from the state legislature for a couple of projects in Kona.

A House Bill that would allow NELHA to establish a microgrid demonstration project for the generation, storage, and distribution of renewable energy is moving along at the state legislature.

HB2460 HD2: RELATING TO MICROGRIDS.

Authorizes the establishment of a Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA) microgrid demonstration project for the generation, storage, and distribution of renewable energy on property controlled by NELHA. (HB2460 HD2)

Introducer(s): LOWEN, C. LEE

The bill was already given a positive recommendation by the House Committee on Energy and Environmental Protection. Kona representative Nicole lowen is the Vice Chair of the committee.

The bill was also advanced by the Committee on Consumer Protection and Commerce.
