(BIVN) – The Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Deepwell is down.
The Department of Water Supply reported Thursday that the deepwell is “non-operational due to mechanical failure.”
County officials say troubleshooting is being done to further analyze the problem, determine the needed repairs, and develop an estimated repair timeline.
The Department of Water Supply says it is monitoring consumption and tank levels.
Drinking water spigots remain open for community access, water officials say. “While water spigots remain open for general community access,” the media release states, adding that “users are asked to limit their consumption to potable needs only. Your cooperation extends current water availability in the reservoir.”
The standpipe facility for water haulers is closed until repairs can be completed. The Department of Water Supply says water haulers will be able to access standpipe facilities in Nāʻālehu for their water hauling needs.
Updated information will be forthcoming as it becomes available, water officials say.
