(BIVN) – On November 2 in Hilo, the Hawaii County Council got an update on the effort to bring public sewer improvements to the Lono Kona Subdivision.
After a short presentation from the Environmental Management Director Bill Kucharski, councilmembers voted to approve a resolution authorizing a loan agreement – and a grant – between the County and the USDA.
Resolution 377-17:
AUTHORIZES THE ADOPTION OF UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) FORM RESOLUTION 1780-27 PROVIDING FOR A USDA LOAN TO FINANCE CERTAIN PUBLIC SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE LONO KONA SUBDIVISION, NORTH KONA, HAWAI‘I; AUTHORIZES THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE USDA, PURSUANT TO HAWAI‘I REVISED STATUTES SECTION 46-7, FOR A GRANT FOR COSTS OF SUCH PUBLIC SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS; AND AUTHORIZES THE MAYOR, THE DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT, THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, AND THE CHAIR OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL TO TAKE ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO FACILITATE SUCH LOAN AND GRANT
Authorizes the County and the USDA to enter into a loan agreement not to exceed $2,437,000 and a grant agreement not to exceed $4,024,800 for costs associated with the Lono Kona Subdivision public sewer system improvements.
The council also approved 378-17:
APPROVES AND ADOPTS A CORRECTED MAP OF THE SPECIAL IMPROVEMENTS TO BE CONSTRUCTED OR IMPROVED, TOGETHER WITH FINAL DETAILS, PLANS, AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR A SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT FOR THE LONO KONA SUBDIVISION
Submitted by the Department of Environmental Management Director pursuant to Section 12-19 of the Hawai‘i County Code and Resolution No. 72-15, the corrected map and final details, plans, and specifications will be used as the basis for the calling of bids and awarding of a contract for this project.
