(BIVN) – The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Wind Advisory for parts of Hawaii Island, which is in effect until 6 p.m. this evening.
A very strong high north of the area will produce strong northeast to east trade winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph, the forecasters say. Winds are expected to subside quickly tonight.
“Winds this strong can cause power outages, make driving difficult and swing doors open and shut forcefully,” a NWS alert stated this morning. “Be careful using sensitive electronic equipment, use extra caution when driving and be careful opening and closing doors.”
