(BIVN) – Governor David Ige issued a media advisory on Tuesday, alerting the public that he planned to sign into law Senate Bill 4 to fund the Honolulu Rail project.
The legislation was passed by the State House and the Senate during a divisive special session. The bill garnered a great deal of opposition from neighbor islands, where the plan to increase the hotel room taxes across the state to help pay for the City and County of Honolulu project did not sit well.
The governor’s communications staff said the event would be streamed through Facebook Live at facebook.com/governordavidige.
Joining the governor on the 5th floor of the State Capitol in the Governor’s Ceremonial Room will be Hawaii Attorney General Doug Chin, as well as Wes Machida, the director of Budget and Finance.
