(BIVN) – A Wind Advisory in effect for Big Island Summits.
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 45 mph, or gusts of at least 55 mph, are expected. Motorists
should use caution, the National Weather Service says.
The Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 5).
Strong southwest winds associated with a mid and upper level trough near Hawaii will impact Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
The Mauna Kea Access Road is currently open, according to the Mauna Kea Weather Center website.
