(BIVN) – Kamehameha Schools has entered into final negotiations with a new lessee, Pa‘auilo-based Hawai‘i Forest, to oversee operations and harvesting of more than 10,000 acres of forest on the Hāmākua Coast.
Meanwhile, another development likely to involve the tree stands lining the Hāmākua Coast is moving forward, as well. Hu Honua Bioenergy executives are eyeing the vast timber resource on the island.
The two endeavors could be complimentary. Back in 2012, Kamehameha Schools joined other forestry industry representatives testifying in support of Hu Honua during a regulatory hearing held in Hilo.
