(BIVN) – A fire damaged a single story home in Hilo on Friday, but the occupants made it out alive.
The Fire Department responded to the blaze at 11 Kanoelani Street at 5:14 p.m. The fire units arrived on scene and found the fire confined to a bedroom of a 20ft x 40ft post and pier type duplex structure.
Two occupants had escaped without injuries. Firefighters extinguished the fire and an overhaul was completed without incident.
The Red Cross provided humanitarian assistance to the occupants. The cause of the fire is unknown and is currently under investigation.
