(BIVN) – The free natural hazard preparedness workshop held in Hilo on Friday included presentations on hurricane insurance and methods to fortify your home in the threat of a natural disaster.
After the meteorologists and emergency management officials had their, State Farm insurance agent Rob Shimabuku explained hurricane insurance, while Hawaii Sea Grant extension agent Dennis Hwang talked about his co-authored Homeowners Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards.
The event, held at the E.B. De Silva School cafeteria in Hilo, was sponsored by State Representative Mark Nakashima. The workshop was held in order to help local families learn how to prepare their home for the 2017 hurricane season.
