(BIVN) – A meeting of the Keaukaha Action Network was held on Thursday. Organizer by Terri Napeahi said that although there are numerous toxicity issues facing the Keaukaha / Panaewa communities, the gathering focused on sewage issues.
Present for the discussion: Hawaii County Mayor Hary Kim and members of his administration, county councilwoman Sue Lee Loy, and officials from the Hawaii State Department of Health.
Department of Environmental Management Director Bill Kucharski gave a presentation on the Pua Sewage Pump Station, on the heels of a discharge of secondary treated and disinfected wastewater near Puhi Bay.
