(BIVN) – The many friends and family of the late State Senator Gilbert Kahele gathered Monday to dedicate “Kahele Point” on the small, oceanfront dock of the Grand Naniloa Hotel on Banyan Drive
The hotel offered the space to honor Hilo Senator Kahele. Hawaii State Senate Resolution No. 104 enabled the Department of Land and Natural Resources to establish the monument area.
“Kahele Point” now features a narrative plaque bearing the image of the late Senator, facing moku ‘ola (Coconut Island) and downtown Hilo.
