(BIVN) – The volunteer group of Bodacious Ladies was granted $2,500 in council contingency funds on Wednesday to help continue a needed feeding program in Puna.
Councilwoman Eileen O’Hara brought forward the resolution, noting that the Bodacious Ladies Feeding Program services over 600 families in Puna.
According to the council’s resolution, “the Bodacious Ladies of Puna is a group of committed volunteers serving under the auspices of the Youth Business Center and the Community Grassroots Project, that was formed to help communities in Puna become food sustainable, and was a significant community contributor after Tropical Storm Iselle made landfall and the need for services in the Puna community increased substantially.”
The group is working with the Food Basket, Inc. and seeks to create food sustainable communities in the Puna area.
