HILO, Hawaii – Recent rains on Hawaii Island brought a Hilo river bed to life, engulfing a vehicle that was apparently left – unoccupied – in its path.
Keahi Kanahele, a student at UH-Hilo, said he saw the Jeep sitting by itself before the waters began to rise.
The sight attracted other onlookers as well, many wondering how the vehicle got there in the first place.
Fire crews confirmed the car was empty and officials are investigating, a civil defense spokesperson said.
