HILO, Hawaii – There will be a one-way traffic pattern on Kekūanāo’a St. between Mililani St. and Hīnano St., the Hawaii County Department of Public Works says, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23, 2016.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
The county says the following traffic patterns will be in effect on Thursday, September 22nd:
- Only local traffic will be allowed on Manono St. between Lanikāula St. and Kekūanāo’a St.
- Hāmākua bound (north direction) on Manono St., Kekūanāo’a St. Intersection closed.
- Puna bound (south direction) on Manono St., no left turn on Kekūanāo’a St.
- Leilani St. will remain open as a pass thru at the Manono St. and Leilani St. intersection.
- Hāmākua bound on Mililani St., no right turn onto Kekūanāo’a St.
- Puna bound on Mililani St., no left turn onto Kekūanāo’a St.
The following traffic patterns will be in effect on Friday, September 23rd
- Puna bound on Manono St., Kekūanāo’a St. Intersection closed.
- Hāmākua bound on Manono St., no left turn onto Kekūanāo’a St.
- Puna bound on Hīnano St., no right turn onto Kekūanāo’a St.
- Hāmākua bound on Hīnano St., no left turn onto Kekūanāo’a St.
Cunty officials say special off-duty police officers will be posted in the work area to facilitate and redirect traffic movement to alternate routes. Public Work’s Highway Maintenance Division plans to expedite and complete the work by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23, weather and construction conditions permitting.
