NA’ALEHU, Hawaii – Ka’u keiki now have to new playgrounds in the district to call their own.
Mayor Billy Kenoi, Councilwoman Maile David, Parks & Rec Deputy Director James Komata and a crowd of excited children celebrated the openings of two new playgrounds at Na’alehu Park and at the Pahala Community Center on Wednesday.
The video above was taken at the Na’alehu event, which included a blessing by Kahu Henry Makuakane before the kids untied the maile lei and let loose on the new slides, climbing walls, bars and ropes.
According to county documents, “Rec and Roll LLC dba NyLawn” was contracted to do the Na’alehu playground job for $301,148.15
