KAPA’AU, Hawaii – North Kohala dedicated of a new facility Tuesday.
The former state courthouse has been renovated and turned over to the Hawaii County Department of Parks & Recreation. It will now house senior programs, and will be available to the community for functions.
County officials and senior citizens celebrated the end of the roof repair project that gives new life to the former Kohala Judiciary Building. Mayor Billy Kenoi spoke at the ceremony, and participated in planting a commemorative ‘ulu tree.
The county says this is the fourth facility in North Kohala for County senior programs, including the former Bank of Hawai’i Kohala branch donated to the County in 2012.
