HAMAKUA COAST – The Walk against Homelessness and Hunger on Hawaii Island has made it to Hamakua.
Dr. Cliff Kopp started his one-man walk around the Big Island on Christmas Eve in an attempt to raise awareness about Hawaii’s hunger and homelessness problems.
Kopp left from Kailua-Kona and has thus far stuck to his schedule. His journey has taken him through hot and windy Waikoloa, chilly Waimea, and now the rainy Hamakua Coast. The Kona dentist is pushing 60 and was recently featured in the West Hawaii Today.
Big Island Video News caught up with Dr. Kopp as he neared Umauma on Sunday. He planned to finish a 25 mile leg to Papaikou before sundown.
