FEATURED: Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway Phase Two Gets Underway
KEALAKEHE – The Second Phase of the Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway Widening project is underway. A dedication was held on September 3rd. Goodfellow Bros., Inc. has received Construction Notice to Proceed from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, effective on the fist of this month.
This second phase of the Queen Kaahumanu Highway Widening project will widen the existing highway from two to four lanes over 5.2 miles from Kealakehe Parkway to the Kona International Airport.
Meanwhile, the Dept. of Transportation is seeking families that have roadside memorials on Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway in the project corridor. The State Department of Transportation will be removing and storing the memorials on September 18th in advance of disturbance by the construction teams.
