LAUPAHOEHOE, Hawaii – The forth and final of the TMT & Maunakea: Common Ground talks was held Tuesday night at the Laupahoehoe Public Charter School cafeteria. The discussions are organized by the Hilo-Hamakua Community Development Corporation in order to “bring more information to the community that it serves (from north of the singing bridge in Hilo to Waipi`o Valley) so that people can make informed decisions about the TMT.”
University of Hawaii entomologist Jesse Eiben was the second of three speakers. His talk focused on his ongoing study of the rare, endemic Wēkiu bug, Nysius wekiuicola, which makes its home on the higher elevations of Mauna Kea.
