LAUPAHOEHOE, Hawaii – The third of four TMT & Maunakea: Common Ground talks was held Tuesday night at the Laupahoehoe Public Charter School cafeteria. The discussions are organized by the Hilo-Hamakua Community Development Corporation in order to “bring more information to the community that it serves (from north of the singing bridge in Hilo to Waipi`o Valley) so that people can make informed decisions about the TMT.”
Wallace Ishibashi provides Security and Safety at Cultural Sites on the mountain, as the cultural officer for the Office of Mauna Kea Management. OMKM handles the management of the mountain for the University of Hawaii which leases the land from the state in support of astronomy at the summit.
The final Common Ground meeting will be Tuesday June 9, again at Laupahoehoe school.
