INSIGHTS
Part three of our video series featuring the way of life for those in the path of the lava flow. This story features the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) as they go door-to-door in Pahoa, touching-base with residents downslope of the approaching lava flow. CERT volunteer Francesca Martin-Howe talks about the procedure the team follows when visiting homes in the threatened area, many of which have already been vacated. However, the team does make contact with one property owner: Alfred Lee, who would later go on to make national headlines for building a berm on his land to try to fend off the lava’s advance.
