- Hawaii Army and Air National Guardsmen were called to the area called to support the Hawaii County Civil Defense as the Puna lava flow makes its way downslope. The Guard says troops patrolled neighborhoods and blocked roads from curious onlookers as the lava flow advances towards homes. They even handed out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters in Pahoa on Friday.
