HILO, Hawaii – Its shaping up to be a rotten day for Barney Sheffield, the Red Cross disaster coordinator for the Big Island. Hurricane Iselle is bearing down on the island, promising to challenge the organization’s capabilities to help shelter the population.
To make matters worse, a badly needed Red Cross truck was stolen the night before from a fenced area at the Red Cross office on Ululani Street.
During this interview, Sheffield focuses on the situation facing the island and its ability to shelter those in need.
