Family Medicine Residents Hamed Ahmadinia, MD and Ka’ohimanu Akiona, MD were welcomed with a reception on June 27th at the Hospital’s River Cottage. Hilo Medical Center Foundation (HMCF) Board Trustees, HMCF Executive Director Lori Rogers, and Hilo Medical Center (HMC) staff was among the attendees. Senator Onishi, Senator Kahele, and Representative Clifton Tsuji, to name a few, who were also there to welcomethe new residents. A letter was read from Senator Hirono who was unavailable.
Hamed Ahmadinia is a graduate of American University of Antigua, former Oahu personal trainer and UH Manoa graduate student. Ka’ohimanu Akiona is a graduate of the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, recipient of the Native Hawaiian Health Scholarship and researcher on cancer care for native Hawaiians with Papa Ola Lokahi’Imi Hale. A third Family Medicine Resident, Svetlana Shchedrina, MD also joins HMC but was unavailable to attend the reception.
The Foundation is so grateful to the community and all our Hawaii representatives for supporting this endeavor over the past eight years.
