KEALAKEHE, Hawaii – The Hawaii County Council’s Finance Committee has given the preliminary go-ahead to the administration to negotiate for the purchase of a land parcel in Puna’s vacationland.
Known as the Hara property, the land was ranked number one on the open space priority list by the Public Access Open Space and Natural Resources Commission in 2012.
Testifying from the east side of the island via videoconference during the finance committee’s Tuesday meeting, the non profit Malama o puna expressed their full support and offered to help maintain the area should it be purchased by the county.
