PUUANAHULU, Hawaii – A series of three different brushfires that suspiciously broke out this week and burned mauka of Highway 190 have been contained.
According to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, all three fires on state land in the Puu Anahulu Game Management Area.
DLNR says the first, 588-acre fire at Mile Marker 14 reported on Monday, Nov. 25 is 100% contained; mop-up procedures continue. The second, 80-acre fire at Mile Marker 16 that started on Tuesday, Nov. 26 11/26 is also 100% contained; mop-up procedures continue. The third fire that also started on Tuesday but burned only a tenth of an acre at Mile Marker 23 is 100% contained and controlled.
Thirty one Division Of Forestry And Wildlife personnel are still on site; that includes 5 brush trucks, 1 dozer, 1 water tender.
