HAWAIIAN BEACHES, Hawaii – A single room addition on the back of a Nenue Street home in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision was in flames in the early morning hours on Sunday.
The Hawaii County Fire Department says no one was hurt or injured in the 3 a.m. blaze, which was under control in just a few minutes of the firefighters’ arrival.
Neighbors told the fire department that they did not know who the owner was. The Hawaii Police Department was on the scene investigating.
It is unknown what caused the fire in the 500 square foot addition. The department estimates a loss of $12,500 but the quick firefighting saved about $38,000 in property damage.
