POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, Hawaii – Firemen from the different companies on Hawaii County met in the center of the island last week for a friendly competition.
Pohakuloa Training Area hosted the first-ever Hawai‘i Island fireman’s muster, for more than 30 firefighters and their families.
Homefield advantage was a factor. The boys from Pohakuloa dominated early on. Winning event after event with apparent ease, like the “midnight alarm”… that is, until the classic equalizer, the “bucket brigade”
PTA officials hope to make the muster an annual event, one of a number of new community partnerships between the military and local government at Pohakuloa.
