Kīlauea Avenue from Pauahi Street to Aupuni Street
February 15: Construction on the makai lane of Kīlauea Avenue from the Pauahi Street intersection to Aupuni Street will continue through Friday February 15.
February 19 & 20: The final asphalt layer, will be applied Tuesday February 19 to the makai lane, and Wednesday February 20 to the mauka lane. Street parking will be restored February 20, at the completion of the roadwork.
During construction Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM the traffic pattern is:
- One lane for Puna bound travel between Pauahi Street and Aupuni Street.
- Motorists traveling in the Hāmākua direction on Kīlauea Avenue are rerouted at Aupuni Street.
- Left turns allowed onto Pauahi from Aupuni Street only during construction hours.
- Left turns permitted onto Kīlauea Avenue from Aupuni Street. Right turns are not.
Kīlauea Avenue from Pauahi Street to Alenai‘o Bridge
February 21-22: Road resurfacing will start at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin to Kūkūau Street and continue to Osorio Lane Thursday February 21 and Friday February 22. Street parking will be restored February 22 at the completion of the roadwork.
No roadwork Saturday February 16 to Monday February 18.
All lanes between Pauahi Street to Aupuni Street will be open.
On street parking allowed.
The contractor’s work schedule is 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Friday.
Roadwork is weather permitting. Traffic patterns may change.
