HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW ESTATES, Hawaii: A single story, 20 foot by 40 foot structure on Paradise Parkway in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision was fully engulfed in fire on Friday.
The Hawaii County Fire Department says that only the front wall of the home was still standing by the time crews arrived at 10:02 a.m. The owner was standing by the side of the road.
There were no injuries in the incident. The fire department estimated the loss at $120,000
The fire department described the property as having a “steep uphill grade driveway” approaching the house “with several small make shift-structures” surrounding the main dwelling.
Fire officials remarked that the closest hydrant was on Lehua Street, and that there was no HELCO power to the residence.
