HILO, Hawaii: State Senator Gil Kahele will return to the statehouse, this time serving Hilo.
Senator Kahele defeated long time county councilman and fellow Democrat, Donald Ikeda, in the primary.
We spoke to Kahele outside of his headquarters in Downtown Hilo, after the first printout revealed a lead against Ikeda.
In the end, Kahele had 6,0727 votes, a total of 55.9%
Donald Ikeda tallied 4,764 or 39.6% of the vote. We will have Ikeda’s comments online soon.
