SOUTH POINT, Hawaii: The search for the missing fisherman along the shores of South Point ended on Monday, when the body of 29 year old Pahala resident Ceasare “Chaz” Moses was found in the waters off Ka Lae.
On early Saturday afternoon, Moses was reportedly swept out to sea by an unexpectedly large wave while retrieving a throw net near the lighthouse at South Point.
Fire Department and Coast Guard personnel searched for Moses over the weekend using sea craft and helicopters but were unable to locate him.
Then, at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Fire Department personnel in a helicopter located Moses’ body on rocks along the shoreline in the South Point area.
Media reports say that Moses was planning to enter an ulua fishing contest this summer and was saving a space at South Point.
Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Hawaii News Now reports that Moses was a year 2000 grad of Ka’u High School, and had just enrolled at the University of Hawaii-Hilo, hoping to become a police officer. He leaves behind a young daughter.
