KEALAKEKUA, Hawaii: A 51-year-old Kona man was arrested Wednesday, May 30th, after allegedly threatening to “shoot up” Kona Community Hospital.
Kona Patrol Officers responded to a call from the hospital in Kealakekua at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report that a man had made phone calls threatening the 94-bed full-service acute care facility.
Police say they later contacted Philip Couch at his home in the White Sands area off Alii Drive and arrested him at 12:40 p.m. on suspicion of disorderly conduct for causing alarm at the hospital. He was released about an hour later pending further investigation.
